A touch sensitive software device to streamline the restaurant experience.
After working for years in the restaurant industry, I saw a real need for an update to the standard way orders were taken and processed. Most restaurants have made the leap to computerized systems for entering the food orders to the kitchen, but the waitstaff still has to use a pad and pen to write down the order from the patrons and then enter that information manually into the computer system. This seems like the computerization has only addressed half of the entire process.
From this starting point I developed a handheld device that can be used as a digital notepad, where the patrons orders are entered directly at the table and then swiped into the computer system at the wait station. This device, which I’ve called iServe, can hold all the up to the moment information a waiter may need, such as a list of specials, sold out items, and alerts when their food is ready.
